SERDANG, August 29 – The YOSH Alumni Chapter of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized the YOUTH Summer Camp (YSC 2023) to share knowledge and experience to improve the marketability of youths to 100 foundation and matriculation graduates from various universities here.

The director of YSC 2023, Muhammad Thaqeef Farhan Alwan, said this programme is an annual initiative of the Malaysian Volunteer Leaders Organisation in collaboration with the YOSH UPM Alumni Chapter, aiming to produce young people with leadership, ethics, and morals.

“I hope that through this programme the students will be more competitive, develop their thinking, have problem-solving skills, and possess entrepreneurial characteristics,” he said.

UPM Alumni, Aisyah Noordin said that YSC 2023 is the best platform for students to recognise their potential and strength through group training held.

“I was also able to share my knowledge with foundation and matriculation students as well as share my own campus experiences that can be used as motivation for them to keep moving ahead,” she said.

A student from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, UPM, Nur Dini Batrisyia Johari, said that as a member of the welfare committee in the YSC 2023 programme, she received new value-adding experience for the future.  

“I am happy to be entrusted by the secretariat to carry out my duties here, and this can improve my soft skills and foster a positive attitude towards myself,” she said.

Meanwhile, the highlight activity was the ‘Sentuhan Belia Merdeka’, which gathered more than 300 local and international youth at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in conjunction with the 66^th Independence Celebration.

A wide array of activities, including sports activities, free health checkups, cultural exhibitions, the Merdeka Kampung Chicken Sale, Independence Explorace, and other interesting slots, were organised for mosque visitors.
